Christ was lovely on the mount,
splended nearer the sea,
but how matchless was our Lord
when He hanged on the tree.
Oh my sins, my shameful self,
the enemy of God,
did upon the cross with Christ
receive the Judge's rod.
Remember, now, weary one,
who bought you at a price.
Remember His conqu'ring blood
when sin tries to entice.
May my soul no evil know,
neither sin entertain.
Graciously the Spirit helps
new life and growth maintain.
Lead me, Lord, by your Spirit.
May I not cause you grief.
May I live my life for you.
Please help my unbelief.
